Registration is open for 8u, 10u, 12u and 14u age divisions.
Registration is $120 per player and is first come, first served. Once we reach our maximum limits of children per league, registration will be closed.
The season will include 8 regular season games plus a single-elimination play-off weekend. Season starts the weekend before labor day weekend (Aug 25/26) and ends by the last weekend in October. Games will be played both Saturdays and Sundays and will be played at some combination of Winnemac Park (all ages), Legion Park (8u and 10u), Mather and the Lawrence fields at the lakefront (12U and 14U) for baseball and Mather Park and Greenbriar Park for softball.
Baseball will have Blue (less competitive) and Red (more competitive) divisions if the number of registants allows.
Players can register as an individual or as a full or partial team. Partial teams will be filled out with players who have registered individually.
Welles Park Full-Time Teams / Summer High School Teams
2019 Welles Park Full Time Travel Baseball (Three Teams at 15U, 16U and 17U)
The Welles Park high school travel program has been designed to complement players’ high school baseball experience with: professional coaching, fall development, winter practices, speed/strength training, vision training, and summer tournaments. The team’s goal is to guide players through their high school careers and beyond by helping them to develop individual skills, as well as Baseball IQ, team defense and situational understanding of the game.
Coaching and development will be conducted by Tug Gillingham and the professional coaches of the Chicago Baseball Consortium. This includes tryouts, practices, games and tournaments.
Welles Park Full Time High School Teams will be Tournament teams (between 25-35 weekend tournament games) that allows for participation in summer HS baseball teams (June and July).
Weekly team practices in the summer which provide an opportunity for situational and team defense development (June and July).
Off-season trainings that develop individual skills/fundamentals in a group setting (January and February).
Skills enrichment (December through July).
Coordination with High School Summer Ball schedules.
Program has included players from Jones, Whitney Young, Lane Tech, Lake View, Niles West, Evanston, Mather, Payton, Lincoln Park and Morton High Schools.
Team/Player Selection Criteria
15U: Players age must be 15 years old as of May 1, 2019 or entering their freshman year of high school in the 2018-2019 school year.
16U: Players age must be 16 years old as of May 1, 2019 or entering their sophomore year of high school in 2018.
17U: Players age must be 17 years old as of May 1, 2019 or entering their junior year of high school in 2018.
Full commitment to practices, games and tournaments are expected.

• All players are welcome to attend the tryout at no cost.
• Tryout Dates: Tuesday July 24thand July 31st 5:00-6:30pm (attend one).
